Day 7 blog

You have already written about your "dream job." Now it is time to get more specific. Deciding exactly which way your career will go is not an easy task. Use of personality tests and much self-reflection is required. Think in terms of skills or activities you enjoy or excel in as you complete the following.

1. List two compelling (and lucrative) jobs that you may be interested in for the future.
2. Search for these job titles. Find two actual job postings for these two jobs.
3. Where did you find these jobs? (classified ads, jobsites such as monster.com, etc.)
4. What will it take to attain these jobs? (degree, certifications, experience, etc.)
5. Where are the locations? What are the salaries? Benefits?

Well, two of jobs that are compelling to me are fixing electronics, i especially like fixing computer electronics. Another job that is compelling to me is an automotive mechanic, because i enjoy working with my hands.

Well, i found two for the first one and they are: TV & Home Electronics Repair Tech and Field BioMed Technician. The other jobs that i found were: Automobile Technician/Mechanic and Auto Technicians Service Advisor.

I found all of the above jobs on Monster.com it is pretty much off the chain.

All of the jobs above, except the Home electronics tech, require at least an associates degree. The only thing needed to be a Home Electronics Tech is the A+ computer repair certification. To be an automobile mechanic/technician an ASE certification is a very good plus.

I looked in the locations near my home city of Depew, NY. I found a lot of these jobs near Buffalo, NY which is about a 15 to 25 minute drive from Depew. The salaries, on average, were between 27,000 and 36,000 to start. Although, as a Field BioMed Tech, i saw salaries upwards of 42,000 to start.

Most jobs had benefits for retirement, health, dental, and holidays. Holiday benefits include double time and for the most part they were normally not worked on at all.

It's me again with another "blog" of the day!

My two compelling jobs I have in mind are working with computers and customer service agent.

Since I am currently working on my
BA degree in Network Security Management, my first dream job is mainly for the money and that is
Information Technology Project Manager or IT Specialist
(INFOSEC/SYSANAL).

I was able to find these two jobs at USAJOBS.GOV. The requirements for both of these jobs are too many to mention so here is the link: http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/getjob.asp?JobID=70305409&brd=3876&AVSDM=2008%2D03%2D31+14%3A31%3A10&sort=rv&vw=d&Logo=0&FedPub=Y&jbf571=23&rad=100&FedEmp=N&ss=0&zip=75201&TabNum=3&rc=4.

The job is located in Dallas, Texas and the salary range is
from 90,949.00 to 118,239.00 per year. Some of the benefits include, Flexible Spending Accounts; Affordable Health and life Insurance; and Federal Retirement Program.

My other compelling job is working as a Customer Service Agent Supervisor for Southwest Airlines.

Working for Southwest Airlines has always been a dream job mainly
because of the free flights and stock options plan once you become an employee. WWW.southwest.com is the website and some of the requirements include, high school diploma, GED or equivalent education; 18 years of age;
authorized to work in the United States; and must obtain a SIDA badge and meet all local airport requirements.

The job is also located in Dallas, Texas and the salary range was not posted on the web site. Some of the benefits include, stock option plan, 401k, medical and dental plans, and most important, free flights for you and your immediate
family to where ever Southwest fly!
