Day 8 Required Assignment

Please write a critique of the movie we viewed in class tonight and save it on your h-drive before posting it here. Save a copy also for your portfolio. Your critique should be about one and a half pages long, double-spaced, MLA format. Make sure this is not a summary but an evaluation. Please use third person and write this for a sophisticated adult audience (like the readers of Vanity Fair or the New Yorker). Include an intriguing title, a compelling introduction, well developed body paragaraphs, and a satisfying conclusion. This is for a grade.

Please complete online registration!

If you would like to be scheduled for online courses you must complete the online orientation assessment. This assessment will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Please go to the following website and complete the online orientation:

https://www.ecpi.edu/online/assess/index.cfm or http://students.ecpi.edu (look for the online link.)

Once you have completed the orientation please send me an email. Please take time to review the information listed below. It explains the online procedures, access process, and support.

# 1 –All Students must be approved to take online classes before being registered for online courses. Students who fail to complete the online assessment will be removed from all online classes. So please be sure all students are approved for online classes before the class start date, and be sure any students you register for online classes in the future are approved. The assessment is located at http://www.ecpi.edu/online/assess/

Note: The assessment indicates that students have access to a PC with our recommended hardware & software requirements, etc. – this form is self scoring (for instance if the student says they don’t want to take online classes or their PC doesn’t meet standards they will not be approved) the results are reflected in a student’s Academic Records, School Fields – Online Approved “Approved / Not Approved.” If a student is currently listed as not approved they can re-take the assessment at any time - their most recent “score” is what is loaded, generally within 24 hours of them completing the assessment.

# 2 –The Online Campus offers many classes to support the different majors at ECPI. Many of the in-seat classes for certain majors are not offered online. Please consult with your academic advisor concerning classes you may wish to take online.

# 3 – The books used in the online classes are OFTEN different from their in-seat counterparts. Your textbooks should be picked up from the bookroom on the first day of the new term. The bookroom is located on the first floor on the first week of the new term and stays open until 7:00 pm. Students who wish to receive a textbook after the first week of the term should go to the bookroom located across from the fishbowl.

.

# 4 –A FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions ) document has been provided for students who wish to take online classes. This document has proven to be very helpful to students who are taking online classes for the first time..

# 5 –Students are emailed their log in information to their ECPI email account & the personal email account (if any) loaded in the student master screen in campus. If they are having problems accessing their email, etc. you can tell them they can log into their online class by going to www.ecpicollege.com, their username is their StudentID & their password is their PIN (this is the type of information included in the attached FAQ).

I hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Day 8

Day 8 work:

Have you already registered at the following free sholarship information link?

http://www.fastweb.com/

Note: Please be careful what you click on. This is a great site, but you don't want to click that you want information about joining the Navy/Army/Air Force/etc. if you are not interested!

Please apply for at least one scholarship you have not already applied for and show Dr. H. your application!

Free online IQ test

This is not required for the course but some of you might want to take this free online IQ test:

http://www.testcafe.com/iqtest/

Day 7 blog

You have already written about your "dream job." Now it is time to get more specific. Deciding exactly which way your career will go is not an easy task. Use of personality tests and much self-reflection is required. Think in terms of skills or activities you enjoy or excel in as you complete the following.

1. List two compelling (and lucrative) jobs that you may be interested in for the future.
2. Search for these job titles. Find two actual job postings for these two jobs.
3. Where did you find these jobs? (classified ads, jobsites such as monster.com, etc.)
4. What will it take to attain these jobs? (degree, certifications, experience, etc.)
5. Where are the locations? What are the salaries? Benefits?
